Quad Infotech has successfully commissioned the implementation of Energy Methods suite of energy management tools at Gerdau’s Whitby, Ontario plant.
Energy Methods will be monitoring all the meters and sub-meters for electricity, natural gas and oxygen throughout the plant consisting of the Melt Shop, Bar Mill, Structural Mill and well as all auxiliary facilities.
Gerdau will work with the experts at Quad Infotech in order to identify the energy consumption models throughout the operation. These models will be entered into the Energy Methods software as baselines allowing the energy managers as Gerdau to monitor in improvements as a result of their energy initiatives.
Energy Methods will communicate with the plant’s production management system called QMOS in order to gather operational and production information which will be used as a part of the overall energy model.
