Gerdau Rolls Out the QMOS Scalehouse Automation System for Scrap Receiving

QII Implementation News, QMOS, Scalehouse

Gerdau implements QMOS Scrap Receiving Automation System at its Midlothian, TX plant. The system will enable fully automated operation of the Midlothian’s two scalehouses (four scales) as the drivers interact with automated kiosks for inbound and outbound processing. The Scrap Automation System interfaces with the scales, radioactive signals and the traffic systems including the traffic lights and gates. All contracts are downloaded from Gerdau’s SAP system and results are uploaded once the trucks check out. The system provides a complete real-time view of the entire operation for the inspectors, supervisors as well as the management. Detailed analytics provide critical reports on TRT’s, Inspector performance and vendor scrap quality.
