The QMOS system will seamlessly co-ordinate a vast network of SBQ production operations from the Scrap Yard through the Melt Shop, billet yard and the Rolling Mill to the Bundling and Shipping of finished product including internal and external processing.
A special challenge was met by incorporating the vacuum tank degasser operation and a two-station ladle furnace into the QMOS system. QMOS also provides a flexible product definition methodology for quality control and testing specifications. QMOS will be used to ensure each production order meets customer specifications.
In version 10.2, the QMOS Melt Shop Production system (MSP) went through a major evolution where most of its function where automated thanks to great efforts by the both business and development teams at Quad Infotech. As a result of this major effort as well as incorporation of cutting edge technology in OPC and .NET, Quad Infotech developed a versatile system that would allow it to interface with the Melt Shop PLC systems in order to track the production fully automatic and hands free.
Quad Infotech is also collaborating with Steel Dynamics Inc. to develop the Order Entry and Shipping modules as an integral part of QMOS, to meet complex SBQ production requirements. This includes formal review and approval functionality to aid in maintaining compliance with quality standards such as ISO 9000 and QS 9000
